“It Takes a Team” is a one day conference on November 3, 2023 from 7:45AM-4:45PM. Live in-person or live virtual attendance is available for registration (this conference will not be recorded).

“It Takes a Team” will appeal to anyone who supports families who are providing human milk for their infants - especially those with lactation or special feeding challenges! We are excited to welcome our two guest speakers: Jill Rabin, CCC-SLP, IBCLC and Meghan McMillin, RDN, IBCLC. RN, RD.

IN PERSON: In-person registration is $75. The conference will be held at the East Peoria Campus of Illinois Central College in the Academic Building, Room 212-C. Food will be provided with gluten free and plant based options available (cross contamination may occur). In-person registration will close on October 25, 2023. You will receive an email 1 week before the conference with more details.

LIVE VIRTUAL: Virtual registration is $65. Virtual registration will close October 30, 2023. You will receive an email 3 days prior to the conference with more details.

    “The mission of the Central Illinois Breastfeeding Task Force is to support, encourage, and educate our communities about the importance and necessity of breastfeeding, as it is a public health priority. We strive to present breastfeeding as the norm.

    Supporting breastfeeding means supporting families in helping them to accomplish their feeding goals. It means helping make your community a healthier place to live. It means giving you an opportunity to be involved in something bigger than yourself.”

    The Central Illinois Breastfeeding Task Force includes breastfeeding advocates from: Bureau, Fulton, Henderson, Henry, Knox, LaSalle, Marshall, Putnam, Mercer, Peoria, Rock Island, Stark, Tazewell, Warren and Woodford counties.

  • Jill Rabin M.S. CCC-SLP/IBCLC

    Jill Rabin is a pediatric speech pathologist and international board-certified lactation consultant who has been working with the 0- to 3-year-old population for over 36 years. She is based in the north suburbs of Chicago where she has a private practice working with young babies and their families with feeding and speech/language issues. Her areas of specialty include facilitating breastfeeding in at-risk populations such as preterm infants and babies with Down syndrome, using the Adapted Baby-Led Weaning Approach™ to transition babies with feeding challenges to solids and using child-directed and responsive feeding approaches to improve feeding skills in infants and babies with feeding aversion. She co-authored the book Your Baby Can Self-Feed, Too! with Gill Rapley, the pioneer of Baby-Led Weaning.

    Jill speaks nationally and internationally on the Adapted Baby-Led Weaning Approach™, breastfeeding babies with special needs and managing feeding aversion in infants and has been a guest on multiple podcasts.

    Jill volunteers for GiGi’s Playhouse-Deerfield, which is a Down syndrome achievement center and runs their 0-3 LMNOP language enrichment class at their site. She also co-moderates a free monthly Zoom group through Julia’s Way for expectant, pumping and breastfeeding parents of babies with Down syndrome.

  • Meghan McMillin, RDN, IBCLC

    Meghan McMillin holds a Master’s Degree in Human Nutrition from the University of Illinois at Chicago. She has been a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) since 2013 and became an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) in 2019.

    Meghan spent 5 years working clinically in the NICU, pediatric floor and women’s units of a local hospital. In 2019, Meghan started her own private practice and consulting company, with a focus on the parent-infant dyad. As a mother to two young kids with food allergies, helping other families navigate food allergies during infancy is her passion.

    Meghan is a member of the International Lactation Consultant Association and the United States Lactation Consultant Association. She enjoys sharing her knowledge through social media, freelance writing, and public speaking. Meghan is the coauthor of the eBook What To Eat When Your Baby Can’t Tolerate Milk, Soy, or Egg Protein: Nutrition guidance for avoiding milk, soy, and/or eggs while lactating.

    Meghan has presented both nationally and internationally including for GOLD Learning, the National WIC Association, and the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. In 2020, Meghan was awarded the Emerging Professional in Women's Health Award from the Women's Health Dietetic Practice Group of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

    Meghan lives with her husband and two children outside of Chicago, IL. In her spare time she enjoys working out, allergen-free baking and having dance parties with her kids in the kitchen.
